One problem regarding this also a very slow internet connection (still in kbps). Bit hard to motivate people to keep sitting and wait hours to download and upload map data sad.

Dear Mr. Hiller,

Thanks for the key. This can be very useful for Indian roads. Many roads outside big cities are in very bad shape.

Hi Alok,

Well thread you have already started smile

Good to see you are actively involved in it. May be we can list down all the NH from India and track them in this thread. Do you have any other idea please do share?

One more point with NH mapping I was wondering if we could do something in maps which could shows where the conditions of roads is really bad.

Happy Mapping!!

Hi Alok,

You can really help the community. You travel more then anyone of us and with your GPS system can provide good data to map.

You can map real good road and highways. I am mapping south west Delhi, around Najafgarh, Dhansa and Nangloi Area. May be you can log into these areas and map few of the roads if you have some GPS data of these areas.

Regards,
Sandeep

I agree with Marek. Because of population effect many places are very small & congested compare to western world.

P.S. Past suggest: Approach (Tricks & Tips) working outside India, hardly work in India and vice versa wink

Dear Friends,

Lets make it more systematic and find mappers who will take care of the particular area in the following states or Union Territories. This will help to recognize all the mappers of the particular area and also mappers of particular state/area can help each other as well.

1) Andhra Pradesh    2) Kerala    3) Andaman & Nicobar 4)Assam    5)Madhya Pradesh    6)Arunachal Pradesh  7)Bihar     8)Maharashtra    9)Chandigarh

10) Chhattisgarh     11) Orissa  12)Dadra & Nagar Haveli  13)Delhi   14)Pondicherry    15)Daman & Diu  16) Goa    17) Punjab  18) Lakshadweep 19)Gujarat

20)Rajasthan    21) Manipur  22)Haryana    23) Tamil Nadu    24) Meghalaya   25)Himachal Pradesh    26) Uttar Pradesh      27) Mizoram  28)Jammu & Kashmir

29) Uttaranchal     30) Nagaland  31)Jharkhand    32) West Bengal     33) Sikkim  34)Karnataka         35)Tripura

Please assign yourself which area who want to take care of or send me names. We can also create a thread for each state, if enough mappers are found, where mappers can discuss their problems and also bring to everyone notice how much mapping has been done for their area.

Dear All,

Just for your kind knowledge, we have some to taken care of in this forum posts.

Forum rules:

Political discussions related to OpenStreetMap are welcome, but discussions on religion or other non-openstreetmap politics are considered off-topic and will be moderated. Personal attacks: same deal.
Users will be warned once. Continued violation may lead to a temporary ban (a.k.a. cool-off period). If this doesn't help a permanent ban is possible.
Moderation is not a pleasant duty and the moderators will not read every topic, but -as in any community- not everyone will be able to contribute to the community in a positive way. So moderation is sometimes needed. If you think a topic is decending into personal attacks, religious or political offtopic discussions please report this using the "Report" link shown for each post. Do not feed the troll.
Please try to keep discussions on topic and positive.

Thank you all.

Happy Mapping!!
